Dave Carlson

Dave "The Love Slave" Carlson: Lead Guitarist and Vocalist. Dave has always had a passion for the blues. Dave's all time favorite guitar player is Stevie Ray Vaughan. He loved Stevie not only for his awesome guitar talent, but for what he achieved in the last few years of his tragically short life. He was lucky to witness Stevie's very last concert at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Dave's playing was also inspired by other blues and rock guitar legends such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Eric Clapton. Dave started Crossroads in 1992 with another musician from a chance meeting at the Cafe Kismet in Waukegan. Dave plays with feeling and loves to get out into the crowd with his guitar. Dave's also the band manager, acquiring most of their gigs and keeping in very close contact with the band members on a daily basis. The other band members say he has a serious cell phone addiction! E-mail Dave! Christine Carlson: Drummer. Christine "accidentally" became the band's drummer shortly after Crossroads was founded in 1992. She got her start on drums at the age of 13, playing to records in her house with her brother Bob who was taking the drum lessons at that time. Having no idea she would become a drummer years later, she sat in on a Crossroads practice session one day, and quickly became the band's drummer. You could say she really started serious drumming at the age of 27! She has natural timing and ability for drumming, and it has now become her life-long passion. Her favorite music styles are Southern Rock, Texas Blues, and music from the band Led Zeppelin. She was inspired by legendary drummers like Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin, and Neil Peart of Rush. She's also quite a computer geek, and maintains the band's website, promotional materials, and fan e-mail list. This girl really knows how to rock! E-mail Chris! Tommy "Itsy" Beckley: Lead Vocalist & Harmonica Player. Tommy, a.k.a. Itsy, joined Crossroads in 1997. While on stage at a local coffee house, he sat in with the band playing harmonica and singing, and instantly became a permanent addition to Crossroads. Tommy brings many years of experience and musical talent to the band, and got his musical start in Chicago, the home of the blues. Singing and touring with bands since the age of 13, he was a member of the Mass Transit band in Chicago. Tommy has studied Harmonica at the prestigious Old Town School of Folk Music in Lincoln Park, Chicago. He was nicknamed the "iron throat" by his former band members because he can belt out songs one after the other like the legendary Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. E-mail Tommy! Carey Orna: Keyboard player. Carey is an accomplished keyboard player with a wide variety of playing styles and abilities. |
